Supported NFC Tags (ComplianceTrackr NFC Tags only)


ComplianceTrackr NFC Asset Tags let you quickly identify and access equipment records in the field by tapping your mobile device on the tag. Each tag is inked to a specific piece of equipment and provides instant access to related documents such as SOPs, Competency Based Training, Maintenance Forms, or Training Courses. NFC Support is added with ComplianceTrackr v1.2.6.

Support for 3rd Party NFC tags is not support and may be added in the future.


Step 1: Assigning an NFC Tag to Equipment

Important: New equipment can only be created on the desktop web version of ComplianceTrackr. The mobile app does not support adding or editing equipment.

During Equipment Creation (Desktop Web Only)

  1. Log in to ComplianceTrackr on your desktop computer.
  2. Go to Equipment → Add New Equipment.
  3. Fill in the equipment details.
  4. Enable Attached Tag?, then also click SM8A Tag.
  5. Manually Type in the Equipment NFC Number they will start with SM8A00
  6. Save the equipment record.

Assigning to Existing Equipment (Desktop Web Only)

  1. Log in to ComplianceTrackr on your desktop computer.
  2. Search for and open the existing equipment record.
  3. Tap/Click Edit.
  4. Scroll to the NFC Tag field.
  5. Tap Assign NFC Tag and Manually Type in the NFC Number they will start with SM8A00
  6. Save the changes.

Note: Each NFC tag can only be assigned to one piece of equipment at a time.


Step 2: Linking Equipment to Documents

Once the NFC tag is assigned to the equipment, link it to relevant documents:

  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Competency-Based Training (CBT)
  • Maintenance Forms
  • Training Courses

How to Link:

  1. Log in to ComplianceTrackr on your desktop computer.
  2. Go to the Equipment section, then Equipment Service Tracking.
  3. Search for and select the equipment with the assigned NFC tag.
  4. Edit the Asset, you will see 4 additional fields at the bottom.
    1. Attach SOP
    2. Attach CBT
    3. Attach a Form
    4. Attache a Training Course.

After you have made your selection, note you can select more than one, click update.


Best Practices & Tips

  • Create all new equipment on the desktop web version first.
  • Assign NFC tags during creation (desktop).
  • Clearly label tags with the equipment ID for easy visual identification.
  • Test each tag after assignment.
  • Ensure NFC is enabled on your phone, some older phone or tablets don't support NFC.
  • Always use the latest version of the ComplianceTrackr app.

Troubleshooting

Tag not reading?

  • Hold the tag 1–2 cm from the phone’s NFC reader.
  • Confirm the tag is correctly assigned to the equipment.
  • Restart the app and try again.

Tag already in use? The app will alert you. Un-assign it from the previous equipment first (via Edit on desktop).
